About

Hi I’m Charlie, a woodworker, eco builder, and land worker.

I'm passionate about making handcrafted items; from harvesting natural materials to speaking with customers about all things wood.

My first introduction to woodworking was in a woodland in Hampshire about 10 years ago, whittling spoons with a pen knife. I found the process of turning a natural material in its rawest form into something useful and beautiful to be an amazing experience, a connection to nature, and a good way to keep out of trouble.

Years later I trained at the Cherry Wood Project under Tim Gatfield, who taught me about green woodworking and woodland management. It was a life changing experience that enabled me to tap into my creative side and make a living doing what I love.

Sustainability is at the forefront of everything I make. I'm always striving to find the most local and natural materials I can get my hands on. The majority of the time I can tell you exactly where your wood has come from, and it's usually within a 50-mile radius of Bristol from small and well managed woodlands. I feel like the word sustainable is thrown around too easily these days so I try to be completely transparent with everything I use.

Greenwashing is all around us and too often consumers think they are buying a well sourced product when actually they are just buying into clever marketing. I want to provide another option for customers, with care for biodiversity and the natural beauty of the land we live on at the heart of every product I make.

If you would like to know more about my products and processes, drop me a message on my contact page and I'd be more than happy to have a chat.
