Green Wood Working Weekend - July 8th and 9th

£200.00

A new furniture making course hosted by Weir Holm Meadow in their barns on a beautiful site next to the river Monnow

On this practical 2 day course, you will learn how to turn a log of freshly cut British hardwood into a beautiful piece of furniture that you and your friends/ family will admire for many years to come. I've designed the course so you'll leave feeling empowered to embark on your own green woodworking journey with enough experience to experiment with making a wide range of traditional products.

Taught by me and assisted by Sam Beckett. He's been heading the crafty projects at the meadow from a round wood frame compost loo to laying the hedges on site, He's a very skilled spoon carver and general craftsperson so between us you'll be in good hands.

Day 1:
- Theory of green woodworking: Practical demonstration and discussion about tools, cleaving, types of timber, grain direction, and joinery
-Cleaving and shaping legs and wedges using traditional tools - froe, drawknife, spokeshave, shave horse

Day 2:
-Shaping seat
-Setting up and drilling compound angles
-Assembly and finishing

All tools and materials are provided but feel free to bring your own!

The meadow is situated next to the river Monnow and we encourage afternoon swims, there will be the opportunity to camp out in your own tent/ vehicle with evening fires.

Teas, coffee, and lunch are provided on both days.

£200pp
